Question:

1) Why did you ship my order to the billing address and not to the delivery address I requested?

Answer:
The credit card companies warn merchants that it is a violation of terms to ship to any address other than the cardholder's address. When or if a merchant decides to ship to an alternate address (i.e. a "gift" address) the merchant is open to the most common form of credit card fraud. Rest assured that OJI will not jeopardize your credit card by accepting payment against it and then delivering to another person at another address. This policy, as defined by the Visa/MC company protects us all.

Question:

2) Why is the default shipping quote so expensive?

Answer:
OJI offers their customers several different shipping options when going through the checkout process. These shipping options are quoted directly from the US Postal Page. The USPS charges us based on the delivery zone you live in and the distance the package must travel from it's origination point to the destination point. Our shopping cart software is programmed with the worst case scenario in mind.

Question:

3) So what happens when the shipping estimate is too high & I pay too much?

Answer:
After traveling to the PO to drop off the packages OJI compares the actual cost to what our customers have paid for shipping. Whenever necessary a credit is issued back to the customers credit card to square the numbers.

Question:

4) Why doesn't my package have an insurance slip on it if I paid for insurance?

Answer:
OJI carries private insurance for packages of lesser value. This typically covers orders below $50 in value, and at times as much as $100 in value depending on the product shipped in the order.

Question:

5) How much of my shipping cost is for the "stinking OJI handling charge"?

Answer:
OJI charges their customers a flat $.75 per order for handling regardless of the value of the order! This handling fee is standard.

Question:

6) I don't see the "alternative shipping options" you mentioned above?

Answer:
When you make your selections they are added to the "shopping cart" and you are shown your running total for the order. At the bottom of the table that contains your selections are 4 buttons. These are "Update Order, Shop More, Order Now, & Erase Order". Once you click the "Order Now" button you will be transferred to the check-out page.

Cont:
At the bottom of the check-out page are all of your alternative shipping options previewed. If the order weighs less than 13 oz the selection for First Class will be available. If it is heavier then this option is automatically removed. You must select the alternative shipping method from the pull down menu by clicking on the little down arrow on the right side of the window.

Question:

7) What if I still don't understand?
Answer:
Call us or write us and we will be happy to help you through the process.

Question:
8) What about International customers, I don't see any quoted rates?

Answer:
OJI does ship to customers all over the world. Because of this there is no way to program all of the variables into the shopping cart software so each International order is handled on a case by case basis. The specific shipping rates can be viewed on the USPS website: http://ircalc.usps.gov/
Remember, OJI does not mark up the postage. We only charge a flat rate handling fee of $.75 for every order. So rest assured that you will only be charged what we pay the US Postal Service to ship your parcel using the method you choose.

Question:
9) Can International customers get the same shipping protections as Domestic customers?

Answer:
OJI uses a variety US Postal Service methods to ship to International customers. These include Surface (SURF), Air Parcel Post (APP), Global Priority (GPM), & Express Service (EMS). The USPS EMS is the only method offered that allows for both package tracking and insurance protections and happens to be the most expensive option.

Question:
10) What about sending my International package via registered mail?

Answer:
The USPS does offer protection in the form of Registered mail but OJI does not offer this
option (it is too time consuming to pack with paper tape on all box seams).

Question:
11) What about sending my International package with insurance protection?

Answer:
The USPS does not offer insurance protection to all destinations of the world. Evidently there are too many opportunities for packages to be lost, stolen, or damaged in  transit. Because of this
OJI will not accept any responsibility for packages that do not travel using the benefit of both tracking and insurance.
